INERATEC and Ferrostaal Chile Announce Collaboration Agreement for Joint Development of e-Fuel Projects in Chile

Santiago, Chile - April 25, 2023 - Ineratec, a global leader in the field of Power-to-X, and Ferrostaal Chile, a renowned engineering and construction company, have announced a strategic collaboration agreement for the joint development of e-fuel projects in Chile. The partnership aims to establish and expand e-fuel production capabilities in the country, promoting clean and sustainable energy solutions to support the nation's energy transition.

The collaboration was solidified during a high-level meeting held on Friday, April 21, 2023, which brought together representatives from Ineratec, Ferrostaal Chile, Chilean Minister of Energy Diego Pardow, German Ambassador Irmgard Fellner and Annika Schüttler from AHK Chilean-German Chamber of Commerce. The meeting underscored the importance of public and private sector collaboration in driving the country's clean energy agenda forward.

As part of the agreement, both companies will work together on the design, construction, and operation of e-fuel facilities. These facilities will leverage Ineratec's cutting-edge, modular Power-to-X technology to convert renewable energy and carbon dioxide into synthetic fuels. The e-fuels produced will be utilized as sustainable alternatives to traditional fossil-based fuels, helping to reduce the nation’s carbon footprint.

Ferrostaal Chile will contribute its extensive experience in project management, engineering, and construction to ensure successful implementation and integration of e-fuel facilities. The collaboration is expected to bolster Chile’s position as a leading player in the global clean energy market while also creating new job opportunities and fostering economic growth in the country.

Chile’s renewable energy potential is substantial, with an estimated capacity of over 1,300 GW in solar, wind, and hydropower resources. The e-fuel sector is poised to play a significant role in utilizing this potential, with projections indicating that e-fuels could replace up to 20% of the country’s current liquid fuel consumption by 2040. Given this background, Chile as a so-called “sweet spot” offers optimal conditions and great potential regarding the price-parity production of e-fuels compared to fossil fuels.
