Full steam ahead toward a green future – Mehrer Compression featured on Welt der Wunder TV

Balingen / Munich, November 2025 –

Whether it's your morning coffee, your shower, or your after-work beer – without gas compression, our everyday lives would be pretty much unimaginable. Wherever gases are transported, stored, or processed, compressors are needed that work reliably, safely, and efficiently. The new Welt der Wunder documentary “Under High Pressure into a Green Future – Mehrer Compression” shows how the Swabian family business, with decades of experience and innovative technology, is making a significant contribution to the energy transition.

For more than 135 years, Mehrer Compression GmbH has been developing and manufacturing industrial compression systems for gas and air applications at its site in Balingen. Today, the company is an internationally sought-after partner when it comes to the safe compression of hydrogen, CO₂, or biogas—key components of a climate-neutral future.

In the documentary, Mehrer opens its factory doors and provides insight into the production of precision compressors that are used worldwide in sensitive industrial processes. CEO Jörg-Peter Mehrer explains why compression technology is one of the key components of the energy transition:

“Our customers work in critical processes – from chemical plants to power-to-liquid facilities. If a compressor fails, production comes to a standstill. That's why we develop systems that operate reliably, safely, and with low emissions under high pressure.”

One highlight of the documentary is a visit to INERATEC in the Höchst Industrial Park, where synthetic fuels are produced from green hydrogen and CO₂. There, Mehrer compressors ensure that climate-neutral production runs smoothly and efficiently—an example of German engineering in the service of sustainability.

In addition to technological innovation, responsibility is also a key focus at Mehrer:

“We are a family business with a long history and strong values,” says Jörg-Peter Mehrer. “Our mission is to develop technology that stands the test of time – and shapes the future.”

With impressive images from production, interviews with experts, and practical applications, Welt der Wunder TV shows how a silent engine of the energy transition is at work in the Swabian Alb – quietly, precisely, and working flat out for a better future
